Mona Lisa Overdrive - Dog Solitude

Mona Lisa Overdrive - Dog Solitude
Continuing for the demo process accompanying a student project at FZD based on William Gibson's novel ‘Mona Lisa Overdrive’.

The third piece in this project was going to be an exterior design of a complex dubbed 'dog solitude' or simply 'factory' in the novel.
The premise is a desolate industrial building in a toxic environment and occupied by a couple of unusual characters.
As with the black clinic before, part of the goal was to demonstrate how to find a not so cliche solution for this design. In this case the obvious cliche way to go would have been with a large production site for physical manufacturing. Instead I took the idea of a powerplant as also an industrial site, pushed it even further into a renewable energy concept and tried out a couple of sketches for a tidal wave setup.

After identifying the promising parts of the sketches and pushing them into one idea, I went ahead to create the 3D model for this powerplant, tweaking proportions and composition and testing several lighting setups.
...And here the final version of this design, the pure line version and a couple of detail shots.
Very fun piece :)
